An assassination attempt in Slovakia, more protests in Israel and Georgia, the recent New York Times poll predicting a Trump win, an online flame war between Jackson Hinkle and Nick Fuentes, and more!
An Assassination Attempt in Slovakia
Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico was shot multiple times in an assassination attempt and a 71-year-old retired man has been arrested and charged. Fico is in critical condition but he is expected to survive.
Fico has long been an ally of Russia and he advocated cutting back on sending weapons to Ukraine. On the domestic side the government under Fico had sought to overhaul the criminal justice system by reducing penalties for corruption and tried to shut down the country's public service broadcasting outlet RTVS and replace it with a new national broadcaster that would be under tighter government control.
Meanwhile Slovakia's Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok said that his country is teetering on the brink of civil war due to political tension and has called for an end of making hateful comments on social media.
About a Certain Poll
This week The New York Times ran this poll, which claimed that Donald Trump is leading Joe Biden in all of the key battleground states. Jay Kuo took a close look at the polling data and he did a brilliant deconstruction of that New York Times poll that is worth taking a look at.
Remember, the news media got the polling wrong back in 2022 predicting a “red wave” in Congress that never quite materialized. Before that they predicted that Donald Trump would win reelection in 2020 and Joe Biden won instead. Before that they predicted another “red wave” that would bolster Donald Trump's presidency only to have more Democrats being elected to Congress. Before that they predicted that Hillary Clinton would win in 2016 and Trump ended up winning. If you go back in time far enough, you'd get the infamous “Dewey Defeats Truman” headline debacle.
Like I wrote in a previous post about the mainstream media, the corporate owners of these media outlets are dying to see Trump get re-elected to the White House so they can get corporate tax breaks and hope that their latest news about the latest Trump outrage will garner increased ad sales and ratings. They want Trump back so badly that they will conduct polls months ahead of time in the hopes that those polls will convince people to vote for Trump again. They want Trump back so badly that they are treating the 2024 election like it's some kind of a soap opera instead of a Russian-directed threat to US democracy. They want Trump back so bad that they are willing to overlook his hostility towards the news media. They don't want to face the fact that Trump has said that he would govern based on Project 2025 and it will involve shredding the entire US Constitution—including the First Amendment guaranteeing the freedom of the press. They care more about getting corporate tax breaks than worrying about the possibility that a new Trump Administration could close them down, just like what Vladimir Putin did with all of the independent media outlets in Russia.
Barron Trump Won't be a Delegate-At-Large at the RNC Convention After All
Last week I mentioned that 18-year-old Barron Trump was going to attend at the upcoming convention in Wisconsin as a delegate-at-large in support of his father Donald. It turns out that Barron won't serving be at the convention after all. His mother, Melania, said that Barron won't be able to serve as any kind of a delegate because he has prior commitments. As of this writing, it is unknown if Barron will even make any kind of an appearance at that convention.
A few months ago I wrote a post saying that just because Barron Trump had recently just turned 18 doesn't mean that he is now fair game for public commentary about how he lives his life. I felt that we should wait until he screws up in public or does something outrageous before publicly attacking him. When it was announced that he would be a delegate-at-large, I thought that he would be fair game for public attention, especially if he acts belligerent or does something crazy. Now that he's not participating as a delegate, I propose that everyone should leave Barron Trump alone again, unless he says or does something outrageous or if he gets into major trouble with the law. If he is basically a well-behaved law-abiding citizen, then we should all give him some space and let Barron have his privacy.
More Protests in Tel Aviv
A major protest happened in Tel Aviv last Saturday where the people are demanding the ouster of Benjamin Netanyahu. A photo from this protest showed a huge turnout.
More Protests in Georgia
About 50,000 people protested in heavy rain against Georgia's new foreign agents law last Saturday that critics say is similar to a law in Russia that is used to stifle dissent.
White House national security advisor Jake Sullivan expressed concerns about this bill leading to “democratic backsliding” in Georgia.
Despite those concerns the bill passed in the Georgian parliament on Tuesday, which led to new rounds of protests in Tbilisi afterwards.
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili is likely to veto the bill but the Georgian parliament could override her veto at a later date.
Campus Protests in the US
According to this recent study that was published in the British newspaper The Guardian, out of a number of pro-Palestinian protests on US college campuses that were held between April 18-May 3, 97% of those protests were nonviolent and they did not cause any serious damage.
Here is this hilariously snarky takedown of the campus protests at the elite US universities that's definitely worth reading, which especially targeted this spokesperson at Columbia University who begged for food and drink for the students who took over Hamilton Hall, who is the same person I wrote about recently. (She is also someone who was once a supporter of Donald Trump, although I haven't been able to figure out if she is still a Trump supporter.)
Someone Actually Read the Trump Bible
Remember that Bible that Donald Trump was selling a few months ago that also includes a few extras like the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence? Someone at Medias Touch actually read that Bible and it's notable for some serious omissions.
An Online Battle Between Two Very Loathsome People
Imagine a fight between two people whom you would love to see drop off of the face of the earth. In one corner you have the Gen-Z Lord Haw-Haw Jackson Hinkle who is pro-Putin, pro-Trump, pro-Hamas, pro-Iran, pro-Syria, pro-Hezbollah, pro-whatever side Putin tells him to side with, and a distributer of antisemitic memes.
In the other corner you have Nicholas Fuentes who is a white supremacist leader, organizer, and podcaster who wants to form a white nationalist alternative to the GOP.
Both Hinkle and Fuentes are anti-Israel and antisemetic so you'd think that they would be allies. Well, you would think wrong, based on this recent exchange on Twitter/X.
The big issue that prevents an otherwise likely Fuentes/Hinkle alliance is support for the terrorist group Hamas. Jackson Hinkle is pro-Hamas who views the terrorist group as freedom fighters. Fuentes views Hamas as a terrorist group whose methods, including suicide bombing, are totally unacceptable. The best description of this battle is in this tweet: “Jackson Hinkle, whose objection to the Nazis is that the Nazis were apparently a bunch of gay and trans people, is fighting with Nick Fuentes, who thinks the JEWS are pulling the strings of Israel & Hamas to create chaos, conquer the world, & enslave white people. 2024 everyone.”
Watching these two spar is just like watching a vicious fight between two rats where you don't care who wins but you hope that they kill each other in the process so that these rats won't invade your home.
