Schisms in the Make America Great Again Movement
It's happening before Donald Trump even gets sworn into office on January 20
Usually the time between Election Day and Inauguration Day tends to be pretty quiet. It's the time when a president announces the new cabinet picks for the incoming administration and the election gets certified in the US Capitol building but, otherwise, people are too busy with celebrating one or more of the following holidays that fall between the two days: Thanksgiving Day, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Year's, and Martin Luther King Day.
But not this time. In a way it should be expected since it is Donald Trump who won the election and he has this frequent urge to stir up drama. And he's being joined by Elon Musk, who also has this frequent urge to stir up drama.
The root of all this is that Trump's Make America Great Again movement consists of two factions: one consists of working class whites with either only a high school diploma or they are high school dropouts. Since the late-1970s to early-1980s these people have been having a hard time finding well paying jobs due to companies shipping blue collar factory jobs to Third World countries. For years they have been conditioned by the rhetoric of right wing politicians and right wing news outlets (such as Fox News and Newsmax) to blame their predicament on elites living on the east and west coasts because these wealthy people are out of touch with the needs of the average working person. They are also taught by these same politicians and news outlets to look at American-born people of color and non-white immigrants as the ones who are taking their jobs due to things like affirmative action and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.
The other faction consists of Wall Street financiers, corporate CEOs, and Silicon Valley types who are all wealthy and they would never associate themselves with the the white working class faction because they consider themselves to be too good and dignified to associate with such ruffians. These are the kind of people whom Donald Trump identifies with more than the first group, whom Trump only uses to drum up support for him and to get them to open their wallets and buy tacky overpriced Trump-branded merchandise like sneakers, Bibles, cryptocurrency, silver coins, watches, guitars, and $100 t-shirts.
It was Trump's onetime friend Howard Stern who once said on his own SiriusXM show, “The oddity in all of this is the people Trump despises most, love him the most. The people who are voting for Trump, for the most part…He wouldn’t even let them in a fucking hotel. He’d be disgusted by them. Go to Mar-a-Lago, see if there’s any people who look like you.”
This schism between the two factions have erupted just before the start of Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa and it's a glorious thing to witness if you're not part of the MAGA movement. This is the kind of schism that Seth Abramson had predicted months ago but it was ignored by the corporate-owned mainstream media. It all began before Election Day when Elon Musk was spending tons of his own money to get Trump elected.
Since November 5 Elon Musk is practically a regular at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. He has sat in on Trump’s calls with world leaders, has eaten meals with Trump and other family members, and was present as Trump charts out his plans for his second administration. Trump has called Musk a “genius” and Musk has dubbed himself as Trump's “first buddy.”
After Trump won he made Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy co-chairs of the new Department of Government Efficiency, whose acronym spells DOGE, which also happens to be the name of the Doge cryptocurrency that Elon Musk had been promoting for years. Anyway this DOGE is not even an official government department nor does it authorize the nation's spending. (Congress does that.)
This schism was further enlarged just days before Christmas on December 22 when Donald Trump announced that he was appointing Silicon Valley venture capitalist Srinam Krishnan as a senior policy advisor on artificial intelligence. Krishnan was born in India, later became a US citizen, and he's been a proponent of H-1B visas.
The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows U.S. employers to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations. These occupations typically require a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a specific field. Companies benefit because they can get an already-trained specialist instead of waiting months or even years to train Americans to do these types of specialist jobs.
But there are problems with H-1Bs as well. Companies can frequently pay such people far less and provide less benefits (such as pensions) than Americans. They can dictate that H-1Bs can work longer hours without being paid overtime.
The companies also benefit in one additional way. If Americans gets tired of dealing with working long hours for low pay in a toxic work environment, they can always quit their jobs, which leads to management scrambling to quickly find a replacement. In the case of H-1B, if that H-1B person quits or gets fired or laid off, that person will have to scramble fast to find a new job that accepts H-1Bs because if they don't quickly find a new job, they will face deportation. Many times an H-1B will just put up with working a bad job in order to avoid getting deported. This is the main reason why so many tech companies in Silicon Valley prefer to import H-1Bs to hiring US citizens.
When Krishnan spoke out about his approval of H-1Bs, this naturally alienated the poor and working class white Americans along with their allies. Then Elon Musk began to speak up about how he also approves of H-1Bs, which alienated the other faction even further. He tweeted:
“The reason I’m in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is because of H1B.
Take a big step back and FUCK YOURSELF in the face. I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend.”
He also added:
“Yes.
And those contemptible fools must be removed from the Republican Party, root and stem.”
Elon Musk, who is also a frequent user of the drug Ketamine, made this tweet where he said “My tolerance for Ketamine is unlimited.”
With all those crazy tweets that Musk made against his own side throughout the Christmas holidays, it makes one wonder if Ketamine is somehow messing with Musk's sanity. Steve Bannon made this post on Gettr where he posted a screenshot of Musk's now-infamous “FUCK YOURSELF in the face” tweet and he added this comment: “Someone please notify ‘Child Protective Services’—need to do a ‘wellness check’ on this toddler.”
This has got to be the first time that I have ever agreed with Steve Bannon on anything. (There are reasons why I usually don't agree with Bannon on what he says and does.) Elon Musk has been making crazy erratic tweets for quite some time and he gets away with it because he is a billionaire who owns Twitter/X. Anyone else who isn't a billionaire who makes similar social media posts would've been fired from his/her day job and family members would be trying to do a wellness check on that person.
But Steve Bannon isn't the only right-winger whom Elon Musk has alienated. There's Laura Loomer as well.
When we last left off, back in September so-called “journalist” Laura Loomer flew with Donald Trump on his personal plane to attend Trump's only debate with Kamala Harris. Afterwards she hung around Trump for a while, which fueled rumors of an affair between the two, which, in turn, led to Loomer suing Bill Maher and HBO after Maher made a joke about the alleged affair on his HBO show Real Time With Bill Maher. It also led to a catfight with Marjorie Taylor Greene and made Trump's advisors worried about Trump’s association with Loomer. Apparently those advisors got their way when there were rumors that Loomer was officially banned from going anywhere near Donald Trump and she would no longer be welcomed at Mar-a-Lago.
Laura Loomer has been notorious for the last few years. Before her time with Trump Laura Loomer was banned from Twitter in 2018 for making an anti-Muslim tweet aimed at Representative Ilhan Omar. This led to Loomer traveling to Twitter's New York City offices where she handcuffed herself to the front door as a form of nonviolent protest demanding that she gets reinstated. Twitter stood its ground and she remained banned until after Elon Musk purchased the social media platform in late 2022 and decided to reinstate her. Initially Loomer felt grateful towards Musk for reinstating her but, as a comparison between these two tweets show, things are no longer warm and fuzzy between the two.
Loomer was a paid subscriber to Twitter/X, which enabled her to share in whatever profits that platform generates. But when she questioned Musk's stance on H-1Bs and Musk’s relationship with China, he retaliated by removing her blue check (which labeled her as a subscriber) and placing her entire account under review. She also made this tweet where she said that X had sent out a message to her subscribers claiming that she had personally deactivated their subscriptions and her subscribers will no longer be charged the monthly fee at the next renewal date. She said that that message was a total lie and she claimed that X was the one who disabled the subscriptions, which means that Loomer will no longer get paid for getting users to like and share her tweets.
She said that this is big tech’s way of saying that if you challenge them, you will be silenced. She called it anti-American, unethical, retaliatory, and a chilling effect on free speech.
She really let Elon Musk have it when she made this post accusing him of being a drag on the Trump transition team and she called him a “stage 5 clinger who overstayed his welcome at Mar-a-Lago.” She also called Musk out over his relationship with the Chinese, who have allowed Musk to set up his Shanghai Giga Factory.
This incident is making me feel sorry for Laura Loomer—and I can't even stand her. She is pro-Kremlin, anti-Ukraine, and an all-around conspiracy theorist but she is absolutely correct in calling out Elon Musk for claiming to be a champion of free speech—only if it's speech that he personally agrees with.
Another account, ConservativeOG, also lost its verification status when it cane out against H-1Bs on Twitter/X.
As Seth Abramson puts it:
“Elon appears to have declared war on MAGA.
He is stripping MAGA influencers of their verified badges left and right.
My *God* has his King of Free Speech crown come off.”
This has led to other MAGA accounts attacking Musk for having an adverse effect on the second Trump Administration before it even takes office in Washington, DC. As Evan Kilgore tweeted:
“Elon Musk is single-handedly destroying the trust we have for the incoming Trump Administration.
Nobody is coming to save us.”
After Elon Musk created drama by being in favor of H-1Bs, telling others to go fuck themselves in the face, calling for comtempible fools to be removed root and stem from the Republican Party, and deactivating the paid subscriptions of MAGA accounts who have come out against H-1Bs, Musk hypocritically puts out a tweet asking “Please post a bit more positive, beautiful or informative content on this platform.” This prompted Mrs. Betty Bowers to retweet Musk's message while adding “Mr. ‘Step Back and Go Fuck Yourself in the Face’ has opened a Cyber Charm School.”
Of course Elon Musk will lose a few right-wing MAGA fans over this incident but he doesn't give a damn. He is a billionaire who only cares about four things: becoming the world's first trillionaire, going to Mars, getting Donald Trump and other far-right authoritarian leaders in power around the globe so he can use them for his own purposes, and the so-called declining birthrate (which really translates as the declining birthrate of white babies). He only likes you as long as you agree with him on everything. (Of course it helps if you're a white heterosexual cis man.) If you disagree with him on anything for any reason, expect to see him turn on you.
The white working class and poor MAGAs are little more than tools for Elon Musk and other wealthy oligarchs to be used for their own purposes then discarded. They simply do not care about bringing well-paying jobs to these people or putting America First in anything. And Donald Trump prefers to be around these oligarchs than non-wealthy Americans. This is something that people like Howard Stern and Seth Abramson had tried to warn the poor and working class white MAGAs about but now they are learning this truth the hard way. This video by Farron Cousins deals with MAGAs who are now realizing that Donald Trump is really on the side of Elon Musk and the oligarchs even though they've been warned about this by Trump detractors for years.
If all that weren't enough, there are certain insiders who have told Mediaite that Donald Trump is getting increasingly annoyed at Elon Musk because of Musk is taking over the spotlight so much that there are frequent references on social media to Musk being a co-president or a shadow president. I've seen memes showing Predident Musk and Vice President Trump. In a way that Mediaite story isn't surprising because Musk and Trump both have incredibly huge egos. I'm sure that it will be only a matter of time before Musk and Trump are at each other's throats.
This drama is all coming before Inauguration Day on January 20. And it's possible that this drama might become even more violent. I highly recommend reading Sabrina Alfin's Substack on The Trump Bait and Switch Will Start Our Next Civil War to see how bad things could really get. If another American civil war actually happens, you can expect Vladimir Putin celebrating at the Kremlin because it will make it easier for him to conquer Ukraine then move on to invading other countries like Moldova.
I'll end this post with a very appropriate tweet that Vatnik Soup founder Pekka Kallioniemi made on New Year's Day:
Now that Elon has started demonetizing accounts left and right, people will probably get more careful about what they say on X. This dramatic change got me thinking about how I want to express myself on this platform in 2025.
And I’ve decided to become worse.
