Tara Reade: Portrait of a Tankie Vatnik
From claiming to be a survivor of sexual assault to supporting a leader whose troops have committed mass rapes
If you’re relatively new to the issues related to Kremlin propaganda and how it’s affecting other countries (including the United States), I recommend reading some background posts I wrote that explains things in more detail along with links to other sites where you can read more to educate yourself.
I'm going to start this off with a trigger warning because I will be discussing rape and sexual assault. That's because that topic is unavoidable due to the profile of this particular tankie vatnik.
Tara Reade has one thing in common with Juanita Broaddrick, whom I featured in this Substack last week. Like Juanita Broaddrick, Tara Reade has also claimed that a Democrat politician and future president had sexually assaulted her years ago. Like Juanita Broaddrick, Tara Reade didn't report this alleged assault and she didn't publicly disclose it for years until 2020. When Reade went forward with her allegation Broaddrick immediately supported her since her alleged assailant is a Democrat. (As I wrote last week, Broaddrick only believes rape allegations against Democratic politicians. In contrast Broaddrick has shown hostility towards E. Jean Carroll when she went forward with her own allegation of rape by a future president because that alleged assailant is a Republican.)
In 1993 Tara Reade was a staffer in the office of then-Senator Joe Biden when she claimed that Biden had pushed her against a wall on the Capitol grounds, kissed her, then digitally penetrated her—all against her will. Since she didn't report her alleged assault to the authorities nor did she publicly disclose it until years later, the only thing I can suggest is to read the details about the alleged assault (including the allegations that Reade is inconsistent in telling her story) here and here so you can make up your own mind as to whether Joe Biden really sexually assaulted Tara Reade or not.
In the wake of that accusation she began to promote Russian propaganda, where she has appeared on the Kremlin media outlet RT and started a podcast called The Politics of Survival With Tara Reade, where she discussed the Russian invasion of Ukraine with people who support Russia and Vladimir Putin.
In 2023 Tara Reade had defected to Russia claiming that she did it after receiving threats in the United States. She said that she intends to apply for Russian citizenship. She made a return trip to the US earlier this year to file charges against Joe Biden but she is now based in Russia.
She may be living her new life in Russia now but she still tweets out Kremlin propaganda against her former US homeland on Twitter/X like this one, where she retweeted this announcement from Dinesh D’Souza about the debut of his documentary film Police State while adding her own remarks: “To those people who are out there wondering why I had to seek shelter Russia? It's because the DOJ and FBI are weaponized against US citizens. I was about to testify before the US Congress against POTUS. I ended up seeking asylum from the Russian Federation for my own survival. Dinesh D'Souza good job.”
Like all Kremlin propagandists Tara Reade is hostile towards Ukraine, especially President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. She made this tweet insinuating that he might have some kind of a secret that may or may not be sexual in nature: “It seems that Mr. Zelenskyy is hiding something from his wife and from the world? Isn't it time for him to come out and confess everything?”
She has weighed in on the Israeli bombing of Gaza: “God help us all. What savagery has been unleashed and brutal violence by Israeli, USA and UK genocidal leadership on Palestinians in Gaza. The world stands by as evil reigns.”
She has even taken to repeating that Kremlin/GOP MAGA lie about the US government isn't going to help the victims of Hurricane Helene because it gave away most of its money to Ukraine and Israel: “In case residents suffering and dying in North Carolina, Tennessee and other states flooding right now, wondering or pleading where the VP is…and the President? He said they ‘gave all they could.’ As billions went to Ukraine and Israel for more forever wars. Americans. They. Don't. Care. About. Any. Of. Us.”
Her most recent tweets are aimed at the United States. She claims that the Democrats are going to postpone or cancel the election if either the Middle East war expands or the so-called “proxy war” with Russia (which is really the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine) expands, which will pave the way for World War III.
Then there is this bit of wishful thinking on Reade's part: “The rumor: Political insiders are saying Kamala will be replaced she and running mate are duds. Dems panicking. Is this possible 22 days out? Thoughts? Who would step in? Gavin [Newsom, current governor of California]? Hillary [Clinton]? Thoughts?”
She accuses the Biden-Harris Administration of engaging in cognitive dissonance: “The horrific cognitive dissonance about what the Biden/Harris regime says publicly and actually does to Americans and the world is stunning. Stop endless wars and funding mass civilian casualties. Vote their corrupt, war mongering asses out.”
She also expressed outrage by tweeting “WTAF??” while sharing this post on RT (which is the media company that's operated by the Kremlin) about the daughter of the late Russian dissident Alexei Navalny (who was killed in prison earlier this year) who currently has a job with the Kamala Harris campaign.
I took a quick look at Dasha Navalnaya's LinkedIn page and it states that she is currently in her senior year at Stanford University as a Psychology major with a minor in Political Science. She is currently working as a field organizer with the Harris campaign's office in Philadelphia. Before that she had worked part-time at Stanford as a teaching assistant and research assistant. She also worked at two different internships for Common Sense Media and Guest In Resident. Both Reade and her Kremlin overlords are trying to see something nefarious in Dasha Navalnaya working for the Harris campaign. The reality is that they only care about this because her late father challenged Vladimir Putin and Putin had him thrown into jail and later killed. If Dasha Navalnaya's father had been anyone other that a famous dissident, RT and Tara Reade wouldn't even be making an issue about where Navalnaya is currently working.
The only silver lining to Tara Reade's frequent pro-Kremlin tweets is that, unlike the Gen-Z Lord Haw-Haw Jackson Hinkle, she is no longer based in the United States. At least she had put her money where her mouth is and moved to Russia. She'd better hope that she never suffers the same fate that befell another American who left the US to become a pro-Russian propagandist only to get killed at the hands of the people who were supposed to be on the same side as him—Russell “Texas” Bentley.
