Just in Time For Christmas: A New Hope
Could It Be the Beginning of the End of Donald Trump's Political Career?
For the past few years American politics have been a place of despair for me. Donald Trump has remained free despite his 91 different criminal charges in four different indictments. He is also running for president in an effort to be the first president elected to two non-consecutive terms since Grover Cleveland. There are other people who are running in the Republican primary but Trump is getting the lion's share of the attention.
It turns out that, according to Thom Hartmann, this drift of the Republican Party towards authoritarianism has been 60 years in the making. I highly recommend reading his article, which explains why Trump's unlikely rise from celebrity businessman to president was even possible in the first place.

Lately Trump has been making statements that have sounded completely alarming and only provided further evidence that democracy as we know it in America is in danger. First, Trump has sworn that he will root out political opponents whom he called “vermin,” using language that have been likened to what Adolf Hitler used in his speeches.
Trump said that he will only be a dictator on Day 1 of his second term in office.
Given Trump's history of lying, it's unlikely that he would only be a dictator just for one day then revert to respecting the Constitution and the rule of law.
But tonight there have been this latest development that could block Trump from ever being president again. The Colorado Supreme Court has kicked Trump's name off of the ballot in that state. They cited Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution, which gives the state the right to exclude anyone from the ballot who have engaged in insurrection while serving as a member of Congress or an officer of the United States or any member of any state legislature. Here's a link to that section of the Constitution.

Right now that case is being appealed to the US Supreme Court. There's a chance that it could be struck down. But there are other states who are also attempting to keep Trump's name off of the ballot for the same reason. If the Supreme Court upholds this ruling from the Colorado courts, it could pave the way for other states to follow suit and Trump will have a harder time being elected.
Which means that Vladimir Putin will be incredibly disappointed that his preferred presidential candidate won't be serving in the White House again making policies that benefit Putin and Russia. Too bad, so sad.
Meanwhile the Trump campaign is freaking out over that ruling and it's glorious!
Naturally Trump is using this defeat as a way of fundraising among his supporters where most of the money raised will probably end up lining his pockets.
His supporters are also freaking out online and it's a glorious thing to see. Here's a sample from the pro-Kremlin and pro-Hamas propagandist Jackson Hinkle, who likens the Colorado Supreme Court's decision to living in a “CLOWN WORLD.”
Calling what Donald Trump did on January 6, 2021 a “lawful protest” is just like chopping someone's head off with a machete and calling it a “harmless prank.” Here’s a video that was originally shown at Trump's second impeachment trial that serves as a reminder of what really happened on January 6, 2021 and it shows why several states are trying to keep Trump's name off of the ballot.
If Jackson Hinkle is really so incredibly stupid that he is incapable of telling the difference between a real lawful protest and a violent riot, then it explains why Miss Russia had decided to dump him and return to her native country.
My blog is free to subscribe but if you want to make a comment, you’ll need to take out a paid subscription, which only costs $8 per month. I know it costs as much as a subscription to Twitter/X Blue but at least I have no connections with anyone even remotely connected to Vladimir Putin’s government. ;-)
