If you’re relatively new to the issues related to Kremlin propaganda and how it’s affecting other countries (including the United States), I recommend reading some background posts I wrote that explains things in more detail along with links to other sites where you can read more to educate yourself.
For the past six months Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has done everything possible to prevent any votes on providing any military aid on Ukraine from reaching the House floor. Part of the reason is that he is frequently deferential towards Donald Trump, who is a very strong ally of Vladimir Putin. Meanwhile Ukraine had gone through losses on the battlefield (such as Avdiivka). Other countries have tried to help Ukraine out but the US's help was definitely needed.
But then, after much behind the scenes maneuvering, the bill was finally put to a vote on the floor of the House and it passed. Now the bill will go to the Senate, where it's more likely to pass, then Joe Biden will sign it and Ukraine will get the much-needed aid to help it fight off the invading Russians.
All this has led to a meltdown among the pro-Russian side and it's a glorious thing to witness. Former UN weapons inspector and convicted pedophile Scott Ritter is asking America to consider the feelings of Russians regarding the vote that could lead to the deaths of more Russians in the future. (Yet he doesn't have any similar concerns about the potential future deaths of more Ukrainians.)
Nicole Shanahan, who is running as vice president under the independent candidacy of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., said that the House vote is just as gut-wrenching as the time when she was 12 years old and she couldn't afford a McDonald's breakfast sandwich because her money was stolen.
There are more posts like these (especially on Twitter/X) where the pro-Russian people are losing their minds over the recent vote.
The one thing about Western-born pro-Russian propagandists is that they seem to have a very short shelf life, especially if they move to Eastern Europe. Gonzalo Lira died in a Ukrainian prison. Russell “Texas” Bentley was killed by Russian troops in Donetsk in the Russian-occupied part of Ukraine. And now, according to this tweet by Cossack Gundi, Bentley's death at the hands of the Russians maybe just the tip of the iceberg. (Cossack Gundi was a fighter for Ukraine who was captured by the Russians and had accused his captors of being forced to participate in propaganda videos made by Bentley. He was later released. He was also among the first English speakers to break the news of Bentley's death on Twitter/X after monitoring the various Russian media outlets.) He tweeted this when Bentley's death was officially announced in the mainstream media: “As my sources remain confidential all I can say is, this won't be the only western useful idiot in Russian Occupied territory that will be turning up dead keep your eyes peeled for the next one. Now that Russian media has already started reporting it about it despite the 6 days it took them to make it public.”
If what he posted is correct, it will be so reminiscent of when Joseph Stalin unleashed the Great Terror in 1937 and some of the targets were Americans who had moved to Russia to escape the Great Depression and had hopes of helping to create a new society based on prosperity and equality for everyone. Ever since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 a number of oligarchs previously loyal to Vladimir Putin have been found mysteriously dead in such large numbers that there is a Wikipedia page devoted to this phenomenon. If a similar purge of Western-born pro-Russian propagandists actually happens, it looks like the Wikipedia will have to create a new page.
