If you’re relatively new to the issues related to Kremlin propaganda and how it’s affecting other countries (including the United States), I recommend reading some background posts I wrote that explains things in more detail along with links to other sites where you can read more to educate yourself.
Fresh from his victory in spending millions of dollars to get Donald Trump elected to a second term at the White House, the South African-born Elon Musk is doing everything possible to not only influence US politics but in the politics of other countries as well.
Since November 5 Elon Musk is practically a regular at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. He has sat in on Trump’s calls with world leaders, has eaten meals with Trump and other family members, and was present as Trump charts out his plans for his second administration. Trump has called Musk a “genius” and Musk has dubbed himself as Trump's “first buddy.”
Meanwhile J.D. Vance, the vice president-elect, has been largely absent from the public eye, which has led to speculation like this next video.
In a way it's not too surprising. Seth Abramson had predicted that if Donald Trump gets reelected, Elon Musk would try to rule as an unelected US co-president. Elon Musk had managed to find a workaround to Artcle II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the US Constitution limiting the office of president to those who were US citizens at birth. As someone who was born in South Africa, Elon Musk could never become president of the United States so he did the next best thing—throw his support behind Donald Trump, who has been showing signs of dementia for months and is someone who spent the bulk of his first term in office playing golf at one of his own clubs. Donald Trump becomes Musk's puppet whom Musk can indirectly rule through.
Now that Musk has succeeded in getting Trump elected, he has decided against resting on his own laurels. He has been spending the Christmas holiday season eyeing other countries that he can remake in his own image. He is currently working with the far-right UK politician Nigel Farage in an effort to bring Farage's Reform UK party to power.
In addition Musk is now openly supporting Germany's far-right party Alliance Für Deutschland (AfD). He created an uproar when he tweeted on his own social media platform “Only the AfD can save Germany.”
He went on to write a guest opinion piece for the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag where he wrote that AfD is the last spark of hope for Germany. He said that his investment in Germany gives him the right to comment on that country's condition.
Not everyone in Germany is enamored with Elon Musk praising AfD. As Jürgen Nauditt wrote on Twitter/X:
“If you criticize Trump or Elon Musk as a European, you are called a Nazi and told not to interfere in American politics.
If Elon Musk praises the most inhumane party in Europe, that is free speech.
The AfD is so radical that the right-wing parties in Europe do not want to work with it. Many AfD members openly support russia - visits to russia, visits to russian embassies on russian holidays, documented payments to AfD members from the Kremlin.
Perhaps the worst thing about the AfD - all foreigners should leave Germany.
This party is no better than Hitler's NSDAP.
If Elon Musk supports this, he is no better than Hitler.
But that is free speech.”
When Senator Chris Murphy went on CNN and denounced Musk's support of AfD by accusing him of endorsing a neo-Nazi party, Musk made this tweet calling Senator Murphy “a huge liar” and claiming that the AfD policies are identical to those of the US Democrat Party when Barack Obama took office. He doesn't think that there is a single difference between the two.
Musk ended up getting roasted on Twitter/X for comparing the Obama-era Democrats with the Alliance Für Deutschland. But he is still cheerleading for that party as he tweeted on December 30, “AfD is going to win an epic victory!”
Only the German voters can squash Musk's dream of the AfD ruling Germany.
And one more thing: It doesn't seem to be a coincidence that the Vladimir Putin-supporting Elon Musk strongly favors both the Vladimir Putin-supporting Nigel Farage and the pro-Kremlin Alliance Für Deutschland.
