Day 3 of the DNC Convention in Chicago

Some of the protesters in Chicago have moved from marching in the streets to doing things that are guaranteed to turn most people off from ever joining their movement. First there were bomb threats then there was something that was so totally gross that it ruined a DNC breakfast at the Fairmont Hotel. A group of Indiana delegates were given a buffet spread filled with maggots. That's right, maggots. This video has the details.

Can you imagine what would've happened to the outcome of previously successful protest movements if the people involved had done something like this? Here's a clue: Martin Luther King would have never gotten his own holiday had he encouraged his followers to do something involving maggots.

The biggest irony is that while these protesters were busy with putting maggots in people's food, President Joe Biden was speaking to Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu urging him to come to an agreement with Hamas on a ceasefire. Which is what the protesters in Chicago claimed that they wanted.

Then there were the uncommitted delegates who staged a sit-in outside the convention demanding that a Palestinian or a Palestinian-American be given a chance to speak at the convention. At least these protesters were peaceful and they didn't do stuff like putting maggots into food.

They didn't get their wish. As this tweet puts it, “If you’re wondering why a Palestinian speaker wasn't given the floor at the DNC this evening, perhaps consider how many Palestinians you've heard unequivocally condemn what happened on October 7th and there's your answer. Idiots.”

Then there were the pro-Trump supporters like Matt Walsh and the founder of MyPillow Mike Lindell who wore disguises on the convention floor but people recognized them anyway. Which is pretty pathetic and hilarious.

Meanwhile things went on inside of the convention very smoothly. Here are some of the highlights from last night.

What that video didn't mention was that there were two short back-to-back speeches by the grandsons of two former presidents—Jimmy Carter and John F. Kennedy.

The convention will conclude today while there's yet another Free Palestine protest that is also scheduled to happen outside. So far this convention hasn't been a repeat of the DNC Convention in Chicago in 1968 but that hasn't stopped a certain ex-president, Donald Trump, from posting outright lies on his Truth Social account saying that someone burned an American flag, police cars were desecrated, and five people have been killed since the convention started.

Hopefully the convention can remain peaceful to symbolize the fact that this is not 1968.
