Customizing Russian Bombs Made in North Korea Before Dropping Them in Ukraine
Painting Confederate flags and anime characters on missiles are especially popular
If you’re relatively new to the issues related to Kremlin propaganda and how it’s affecting other countries (including the United States), I recommend reading some background posts I wrote that explains things in more detail along with links to other sites where you can read more to educate yourself.
Just a few months after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, someone in Ukraine had a unique fundraising idea. People from all over the world would send donations. In return a Ukrainian solder would write a message directly on a rocket shell that would be aimed at the invading Russian military. The message would be specified by the donor. A photo would be taken of the autographed shell then uploaded online
You can still request a personalized message written on a rocket shell in exchange for a donation at SignMyRocket.com.
More recently this one Russian soldier has came up with a similar fundraising idea. For a donation he will draw and/or write on a North Korea-made bomb that's made to the donor's specification before they are sent to be dropped on various Ukraian targets. He said that the proceeds will go to “Russian humanitarian aid,” although he doesn't get any more specific than that.
The requests from American donors have included drawings of an American flag, drawings of a Confederate flag, and pro-Donald Trump slogans.
This guy also gets requests to draw anime figures on the bombs. The majority of these requests come from China.
