A Great Day For Racists, Misogynists, Christian Nationalists, and Vladimir Putin
Donald Trump wins
I really didn't want to see the first person to get elected to two nonconsecutive presidential terms since Grover Cleveland. I would’ve preferred to see the first woman president elected in my lifetime but that's not going to happen now. It's because enough people were willing to reelect a man who is showing signs of cognitive decline and who is a convicted felon over a woman who doesn't have those problems. As for those 34 felony charges, he'll probably make them go away somehow, along with all of the other criminal charges that he would’ve been facing.
The sad fact is that there are still enough racists and misogynists who would rather vote for a convicted felon who's undergoing cognitive decline than a competent black woman who is experienced and who has basically done a decent job as vice president.
Of course Vladimir Putin loves the outcome because Donald Trump has indicated that he's on Russia's side in everything—including the war in Ukraine.
To the white women who voted for Donald Trump, don't come crying to me if you end up having a harder time finding access to contraceptives. Or have a wanted pregnancy where the fetus becomes nonviable or it ends in a miscarriage that could threaten your life but you can't get the healthcare that you need because of draconian anti-abortion laws.
To the pro-Palestinian protesters who spent months urging people to not vote for Democrats because you think they are “pro-genocide,” don't come crying to me when Benjamin Netanyahu starts killing more Palestinians in Gaza and Donald Trump is helping by providing him with whatever weapons are needed to get the job done in order to fulfill this vision that Trump and his son-in-law Jared Kushner have of turning Gaza into a rich person's beach vacation resort.
To those who were among the 0.4% who voted for Jill Stein and her Green Party because of Gaza and the environment, read my last statement while I'll add, especially for you guys, don't come crying to me when more and more environmental regulations are gutted.
To the senior citizens who voted for Trump, don't come crying to me when he decides to eliminate Social Security and Medicare. Hope you'll enjoy your future job working as a Walmart greeter or a fry cook at McDonald's in your 70s, 80s, and beyond just so you can pay your bills.
To those veterans who voted for Trump despite his history of calling people like you “suckers” and “losers,” don't come crying to me if Trump makes deep cuts to the Veterans Administration and he starts insulting you even more.
To those self-professed patriots who voted for Trump despite the fact that he attempted a coup d'etat on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, don't come crying to me if he starts gutting part or all of the Constitution.
To the Christians who voted for Trump because you think he is moral (despite his three marriages, history of cheating, and committing all kinds of immoral actions like not paying his contractors), don't come crying to me when he starts determining which Christian faiths are okay and which aren't—especially if you belong to a faith that isn't a favorite of Trump's (because it's not deferential enough towards Trump).
To the corporate-owned mainstream media who wanted Trump to win because stories about him will increase sales and ratings, don't come crying to me if he starts cracking down on you (including forcing your company out of business) because you fell out of favor with him for whatever reason (whether real or imagined).
To the Latinos and Muslims who voted for Trump despite his threat to institute mass deportations, don't come crying to me when he not only starts deporting illegal immigrants but legal ones as well because of the color of your skin or your non-English surname. You guys are like Jews For Hitler.
To those who voted for Trump as a protest against higher grocery prices, don't come crying to me when Trump starts his trade wars and food prices go even higher as a result due to tariffs.
All of those groups I mentioned are just like the woman who voted for the Leopards Eating People's Faces Party only to later cry, “I never thought those leopards would try to eat my face!!!”
To everyone else who voted for Kamala Harris, I feel you. I really do. You did what you could. This morning I came across a Substack by Malcolm Nance who has provided some helpful tips on how to get through the next few days of realizing that Donald Trump had managed to win despite facing the kind of odds that would've torpedoed the career of any other politician.
I don't even know what I'm going to do, to be honest. I originally created this Substack to debunk Kremlin lies about Ukraine and I ended up writing more about Donald Trump and his MAGA movement. I couldn't help it because I'm an American who lives in the United States. I justified my increased focus on Trump because Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are close allies. I was looking forward to writing less about Trump after the election and more about debunking some of the most outrageous Kremlin propaganda against Ukraine I've seen, especially on Twitter/X. I had grown tired of Trump and his antics and I wanted to see him lose just so I could move on. But he has become just like the late John Belushi on this classic 1970s Saturday Night Live sketch “The Thing That Wouldn't Leave.”
(I apologize for the video quality but it was the only one I could find online that had that sketch.)
I'm old enough to remember voting in past elections. Sometimes the person I voted for won while other times the person I voted for lost. Whenever I voted for the losing candidate I would be disappointed but I would quickly move on while wishing his/her opponent well. But Donald Trump isn't like the usual candidate and he has hinted that the US will be more authoritarian and less democratic. I am literally worried about my own future.
I'm about to go through some things in the near future.
