The Gen-Z Lord Haw-Haw is Recruiting Americans to Visit Russia
Helping Russia getting fresh Americans to arrest on dubious charges to fill their prisons
If you’re relatively new to the issues related to Kremlin propaganda and how it’s affecting other countries (including the United States), I recommend reading some background posts I wrote that explains things in more detail along with links to other sites where you can read more to educate yourself.
Last month I mentioned that the US State Department has a traveler’s advisory urging Americans not to travel to Russia. Right now there are Americans who were arrested on dubious charges who are languishing behind bars in Russian prisons with no indication as to if they will ever get released. The best they can hope for is the rare prison swap between the US and Russia but they tend to happen very infrequently.
It looks like most Americans are heeding that advisory. How else can you explain what the Gen-Z Lord Haw-Haw Jackson Hinkle said about how he feels that more Americans should visit Russia?
Here's some background: Jackson Hinkle was in Russia attending the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which was held in the same week as the 80th anniversary of D-Day in France. He got to rub shoulders with some dubious personalities, such as the far-right political philosopher Aleksandr Dugin.
He was also interviewed by Sputnik, the Kremlin-controlled media outlet. In that interview he urged Americans to visit Russia to experience, in his words, “its authentic culture and beauty rather than rely on preconceived notions or media portrayals.” He kept on gushing about how the people are friendly, it offers a high quality of life, has affordable travel options, etc.
It sounds fantastic, except for the stories about Americans being arrested on dubious charges and are languishing in Russian prisons. Of course Hinkle doesn't mention that downside of being an American in Russia.
And it's not only Americans and other Western foreigners who are subjected to these arbitrary arrests. Roman from the NFKRZ YouTube channel made this recent video where he said that the police will also frequently arrest Russian citizens on dubious charges. The more people that particular officer arrests—regardless if there is any evidence against the suspect or not—the more likely that the police officer will get promotions and other rewards. (The part where Roman discusses the Russian police frequently arresting Russian citizens begins at the 10-minute mark.)
It seems like Jackson Hinkle is promoting the idea of Americans traveling to Russia for reasons other than just giving friendly travel tips. It's quite possible that he's helping Russia with getting a new fresh supply of Americans to arrest, throw in jail, and use as prisoners for potential prison swaps with the US.
The only thing I can say is to ignore Hinkle’s advice and avoid going to Russia while Vladimir Putin's government is in control. I'm sure that Hinkle is right when he says that there are parts of Russia that are just lovely to visit but there are plenty of other lovely tourist spots all over the world that Americans can visit without fears of arbitrary arrests and being thrown in prison for a very long time.
By the way, if Jackson Hinkle loves Russia so much, he should seriously consider moving there permanently. He is such a great admirer of Vladimir Putin that it would make sense for him to live in the same country that Putin rules. After all, the original Lord Haw-Haw moved to Germany, where he did his pro-Nazi English-language broadcasts.
